APRS SEMINAR:
SITES OF SOUND - RECORDING STUDIOS AND THE MUSICAL ECONOMY

Wednesday 12th July 2006

7.00pm

University of Nottingham London Office
41-42 Berners Street, London W1T 3NB

A special presentation to the APRS by
Andrew Leyshon

Professor of Economic Geography at University of Nottingham

This seminar is a MUST for all recording studios.  It takes a close and revealing look at the “economic geography” of the industry based on extensive research undertaken in leading UK recording studios.

The presentation will be in two main parts:

  • The good news: The first part presents the findings of an empirical study of ‘commercial success’ within the recording studio sector, which reveals that London contains an agglomeration of globally successful studios.
  • The bad news:  However, the second part of the presentation argues that, despite such success, the industry is undergoing a period of sustained crisis….

This APRS event will give you a better understanding of the economics of your industry and, more importantly, how it affects your income.

The venue is limited to 40 places.
